Lamb’s Ear

Asked August 22, 2020, 6:05 PM EDT

My friend planted a Lamb’s Ear couple of years ago. It is a healthy plant. Question is “can she split the plant to get it started in another spot?” If so, what time of the year is the best time to do it? Also any specific instructions necessary? Thank you.

Best time to divide lamb's ear is in spring or early fall. The plant is very hardy and It would be okay to do it now. It grows well in average, dry to medium, well-drained soils in full sun. Even with well-drained soils, some summer die-out may occur where high humidity and/or moisture on foliage is present. The plant can spread aggressively.
