Soybean Only Diet

Asked August 21, 2020, 5:10 PM EDT

Hi, So I'm in possession of a lot of cheap and bulk soybean meal, and want to know if I could somehow use it as a bulk substitute (Like 50%+) for my feed instead of maize. Will it be a problem having such high protein meal as a bulk. Is there a way around it, and could you please elaborate on how it can be done? I understand Ammonia is going to be a problem, but cleaning regularly is not a problem.

A soybean meal only diet is NOT a good idea. You will likely kill your flock. Such a high protein level (even at 50% inclusion) is too high. It is not a substitute for the energy value of provided by a grain like maize.
