4H options within city limits

Asked August 20, 2020, 8:12 AM EDT

We live in city limits of saint Clair shores. My child will be homeschooling this year and I’m looking for more opportunities to enhance her education. Is it true if you participate in 4H you can keep small livestock such as chickens even if the city ordinance is against it? What are our options to participate if we live in the city?

4-H provides numerous opportunities to enhance your child's education including learning about animal science, entrepreneurship, career education, financial literacy, leadership, gardening and so much more. To learn more about what is offered I recommend the following websites.
Remote learning options open to all across the state: https://www.canr.msu.edu/rlr/
Macomb 4-H to see local events and join: https://www.canr.msu.edu/macomb/4-h/index
Regarding your question about chickens, it is not true if you join 4-H you can still raise chickens even if your city does not allow it. MSUE and 4-H works with in cities and we abide by their rules as well.

Thank you so much for the information!
