Trimming back black raspberry primocanes

Asked August 19, 2020, 6:53 PM EDT

Various sites suggest tipping (cutting 2-3 inches off the end of) black raspberry primocanes when they reach 3 feet or so. If only I had known that before letting several reach 5, 6, even 7 feet! I’ve already trimmed some back simply to allow access into the patch. Is it OK to trim them all to 3 feet at this time? Thanks.
