Honey Crisp Tree failing
Our 8 year old honey crisp tree seems to be in distress. Leaves are yellowing and curling. Some fruit but smaller than past years. No previous issues in past years. (First photo) Second tree 15 yards away looks healthier but now showing some similar signs of curling leaves. (Second photo). Is this just a watering issue? Just started supplement water two weeks ago. Thank you so much for any guidance!
St. Louis County Minnesota
It is probably experiencing some sunburn and drought stress. It needs an inch of water per week until the ground freezes and more in very hot weather. It needs water if the soil under the tree is dry to a depth of 2 inches.
Or maybe Honeycrisp leaf zonal chlorosis? https://smfarm.cfans.umn.edu/honeycrisp-results/honeycrisp-topic/leaf-zonal-chlorosis
