Freckled tomatoes.

Why do I have freckles on my tomatoes? Are they still edible? Thanks! Meg

Uneven ripening and pigment breakdown cause speckling and is a late season phenomenon. Nothing can be done to prevent it. Those tomatoes and any cracked tomatoes are safe to eat. Even if you unintentionally ate a tomato infected with a fruit rot you would not be harmed.
