What could this be?

We found this in our yard last night and have no idea what it could be. It was not there earlier in the day because I cut the grass and would have noticed it. Possibly some type of fungus? Thank you in advance for looking at it. Thanks Doug

This looks like a type of fungus called a jelly fungus. It grows on organic matter in the soil. Often there is a dead tree root decomposing under the soil which is providing the nourishment it needs. It is not harmful nor is there anything you can spray or apply to get rid of it. You can scoop and discard or let it be.
