When is zucchini ready to be picked

Thank you for using Ask an Expert. You can harvest at pretty much any time that they look good to you, they don't have to mature to a certain size. They are usually tastier if you don't let them get TOO big. So, it just depends on what size you'd like them. Smaller ones can be cute and fun to eat. It was suggested to me that the overly large ones can be made into relish. :-) Or probably zucchini bread too. So, I have a feeling that the one in your picture is ready to eat.
