Cedar rust—crabapples

Asked August 8, 2020, 7:49 PM EDT

My crabapples has a mild case of cedar rust this year. I have tried to control it with proper pruning and leaf sanitation but I would like to have my arborist spray a fungicide in the spring to further prevent the disease. He already sprays for apple scab. To effectively control cedar rust what should the fungicide contain and can this be combined with the fungicide for apple scab? Thank you

I am including a link to an article which contains a table of products that can be used on crab apple trees for apple scab. The active ingrededients ingredients include captan, mancozeb, thophanate-methyl or sulfur. Follow the product label for timing and rate of application. Hope that helps! https://hgic.clemson.edu/factsheet/apple-crabapple-diseases/
