Pruning a Cherry Tree with green fruit on it

Asked August 3, 2020, 7:25 PM EDT

Is it ok to prune a cherry tree in August that has green fruit on it? The branches are hanging low over the driveway and they scrape across the top and side of our vehicle when we pull into the garage. We’d like to remove them but don’t want to cause detrimental damage to the tree.

Thank you for your help!

I don't think that is a cherry tree. I think it is an ornamental Bradford pear. Yes you can the limb off. The sooner the better. The worst time to prune is in the fall before winter comes.
