Discolored Bark on Crimson Maple

Asked August 3, 2020, 12:07 PM EDT

I have a 35 yr old Crimson Maple in my back yard in Eden Prairie. It always has been healthy, and still looks great, except its got white splotches all over the bark. Splotches are not on the trunk, but on all the limbs. Leaves look normal with no issues. Do I have some weird bugs?? Or is that sap? The spots have the same exact texture as the regular bark, only thing different is the color. Can't see any bugs Picture is attached. Can you help me figure out what is wrong and how to treat it

The following explains why we think nothing is wrong and nothing needs to be done about the white patches.
