Japanese Forest Grass - Hakonechloa

Asked July 28, 2020, 9:16 AM EDT

Hello, As you can see in the photos, I have a few of these plants rather close together in my back yard. I didn't expect them to flourish so well when I planted them a few years back. Are they endangering each other? If I should transplant a couple of them, is this a bad time to do it? It's awfully hot lately. Thanks.

The spacing between these Hakonechloa grasses seem fine, and they will not overly compete with one another. If you wish to transplant any, spring is the best time to do so since they will be less stressed and not at risk of frost heaving which could happen if moved too late in the season.
