What are some of the best flowers and vegetables to plant for/in sandy soil?

To begin with you could mix compost into your soil to improve its organic content. Also, you could grow your vegetables in raised beds that have been filled with a soil with more organic matter. Here are some different vegetables I would consider for sandy soils: carrots. radishes, potatoes, lettuce, collard greens, tomatoes, zucchini, corn, asparagus, watermelons, bush or pole beans, or cucumbers.
I would also consider planting these flowers: moss phlox, catmint, lavender, artemisia, sedum, daylilies, salvia, giant allium, sweet alyssum, or butterfly bush.
