Hello, are butterfly bushes invasive and if so should I remove them from my home garden?

Yes, Butterfly bush is invasive and we do not recommend planting them. They become invasive in a variety of natural habitats. It crowds out native plants that would provide essential food for butterflies, birds, and other wildlife. They spread by seed that is dispersed by the wind and water.
See our website for more information and native alternatives that you can plant instead. https://extension.umd.edu/hgic/topics/butterfly-bush
