Rose of Sharron died after serval good years

Asked July 17, 2020, 5:33 PM EDT

We had two Rose of Sharron bushes in north east Schuyler county. They were about 7 feet tall after a half dozen year or so one of them died, and the other 2 years later. Our neighbors across the road had a couple about the same age, and lost theirs in the same time frame. This occurred between 2017 & 2019. Do they have a short life spand?

Thank you for your question. It is difficult to diagnose a plant problem without seeing a photo and, in this case, to examine plant tissue and have soil testing. There are a number of diseases which afflict these plants, listed here: https://www.missouribotanicalgarden.org/PlantFinder/PlantFinderDetails.aspx?kempercode=c522 If you still have plant tissue, or photos, I suggest that you contact your county Extension Service directly: https://cce.cornell.edu/ Hope they can help. Good luck!
