pyrrosia lingua compacta

Asked July 17, 2020, 5:05 PM EDT

I have a recently acquired pyrrosia lingua compacta fern and it’s leaves have gone yellow and oddly dusty since I planted it less than a week ago. Any hints on how to make her a bit more happy? She’s planted in a very shady area, only thing I can think is too much water or maybe just too much afternoon sun? It really doesn’t get a lot of sun though.

Thank you for your question. I am having difficulty seeing the 'dust' but assume it might be powdery mildew. They are very drought tolerant, so it might be too much water. http://www.onlineplantguide.com/plant-details/2119/ Perhaps you can contact your own county extension service for an examination and advice: http://cesonoma.ucanr.edu/about/contact/ Good luck!
