White powdery substance on SOIL in container garden.

Asked July 15, 2020, 12:14 PM EDT

I am seeing a “snow-like” substance on top of potting soul in a big flower pot where I planted coleus and impatience. The pot is in shade and watered frequently. I’m guessing it’s a mold of some sort. Can I treat the soil with something?

When suspecting white mold on container plants there are a few techniques to help eradicate it. A few environmental practices, providing good air circulation around the containers, and watering the plants close to the roots will help to deter plant issues. There are traditional and nontraditional methods for mold in the following links that should provide assistance.
