My lawn is covered with crabgrass. Is there anything I can do now to stop it’s spread. I understand it will die off when it gets cool but it’s very unsightly now. I have very sandy soil. I also have large shaded areas that have very little grass.

Thank you for writing.
It is too late to apply preemergent controls for crabgrass.
The key here is prevention. Core aeration improves your lawn and this prevents invasion. The taller the grass, the deeper the roots and this presents in invasion.

It may be that your shaded areas are improperly seeded. Perhaps a groundcover or a different grass like fescue would be appropriate. Re seeding is best done later in the season.
