Crow Dipper (Pinellia ternata)

Asked July 7, 2020, 10:31 AM EDT

Should I remove all Pinellia ternata from my garden? When I purchased it at a plant sale, I was told it was Jack in the Pulpit. As this one is not a native, and is invasive what would you advise? I’m trying to only use natives.

It is not technically listed as a Maryland invasive species, however, it is a spreader. We recommend removing it so it doesn't become problematic in the future. Devote the space to native plants, if you can. https://www.marylandbiodiversity.com/view/1658

Be sure to dig out the corms at the base of the stems. https://www.scottarboretum.org/pinellia-ternata/
