Any well water testing tips?

Asked July 6, 2020, 10:51 PM EDT

My question is for a 24-year old residential well, located at a home on the shore of Lake Templene. The well is 103' depth. What sort of water quality testing do you recommend (how often)? What issues should I watch out for? Can you suggest what organizations are best suited to perform water quality testing? Thank You!

Hello and thank you for using Michigan State University Extension eXtension for your well water question. the information about your well and about getting your water tested would be through your local Health department. if you have problems such as rust or a rotten egg smell you should contact a local well drilling company for assistance in resolving this issue. Michigan EGLE also offers a list of water testing labs in the state. https://www.michigan.gov/egle/0,9429,7-135-3307_4131_4155---,00.html
