growing asparagus from seed

Asked July 5, 2020, 4:32 PM EDT

Someone just gave me a container of about 15 Mary Washington asparagus grown from seed. (July 5) The "ferns" sticking out of the soil are about 3 inches tall. Can I plant them? If so,how? If not now, what should I do with them? Thanks, leah

Hi- it's ok to plant now if you have a good garden spot, high in organic matter, ready to receive the asparagus plants and can dedicate yourself to watering them regularly to get them established.
