Pine tree tip bends

Asked July 4, 2020, 6:03 PM EDT

I noticed the tip of my Norwegian Pine was bent. The next day it was straight. Today it’s bent again

Hello,

This appears to be a type of spruce tree and the bending could be from birds perching, or a sign of insect damage. Here are some references with details

Another possibility is drought stress. Check the soil 6-12 inches down and water the tree slowly if soil is dry. If it is surrounded by grass, the grass is taking up water before the tree. It is best to remove the turf and mulch around the tree but do not pile mulch against trunk or let it touch branches.

I hope this helps solve the mystery.
