All my milkweed plants are in bloom and no monarch butterflies - what gives??

Common milkweed plants are required for the monarch's life cycle. However, the presence of a milkweed plant does not guarantee the arrival of a monarchs. There are other specialist insects including milkweed bug and the red milkweed beetle that use milkweeds too. It is a challenge to direct a mobile insect to a specific area. There could be more suitable habitats with a higher density of milkweeds elsewhere.
