Asked July 1, 2020, 7:26 AM EDT

Hello,My 3 year old zephirine drouhin rose bush has had pale green leaves all spring/summer. Now some are spotting brown (Not like bug spots, covering portions of the leaves). And have bugs eating the leaves as well. Rose dust not working. Spray insecticide not working.

Hello,

Roses have many diseases including black spot, rose rosette, rose mildew and are attacked by many insects including rose chafer and Japanese beetles, to name a few. Even deer eat roses. I’m attaching an article from the Missouri Botanical Garden that will help you identify the culprits.

Once you have identified the problem, you will have to treat it. I’m attaching another article from Clemson Cooperative Extension which guides you through treatment.

You could also contact local nurseries. Many nurseries have skilled rosarians working for them.

I hope this helps with your rose bush.

Thank you for your question.
