Pine Trees Looking Sickly

Asked June 29, 2020, 10:52 PM EDT

Good evening, I have several pine trees on my property in South Lyon, MI that aren’t looking healthy and I’d like some advice on how to help them. It’s been quite dry and perhaps that could be the problem. Would much help? Does it seem like the trees are diseased? Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! -Nick

Hello

The photos that you sent are of Colorado Blue Spruce. These trees have a lot of problems. They are susceptible to several diseases and insect attacks.

I’m attaching an article from Bert Cregg of MSU which explains all the problems that these trees have and why they have them. https://www.canr.msu.edu/news/what_is_spruce_decline_and_what_should_you_do_about_it

I do not know if your trees can be saved but I suggest that you contact a certified arborist at: https://www.treesaregood.org ,the website of the International Arboriculture Society to find an arborist in your area for you to consult.

Good luck with your trees. Thank you for the question.
