Potatoe leaf hopper on young maple

Asked June 24, 2020, 3:10 PM EDT

I have a client with potatoe leaf hopper on a young maple planted in a park. If left untreated, will this tree die? What is the least-toxic approach to management?

The leaf hopper can cause a scorch or burned look to foliage but should not kill the tree. Here is our page on them: https://extension.umd.edu/hgic/topics/leafhoppers-trees

Trees in public areas cannot be treated by citizens.
