Asked June 22, 2020, 5:24 PM EDT

thank you for taking, like, 8 questions from me today!! i love your service!!

pictured is a plant on an abandoned property. it had a wonderful smell.
ignorantly, the pictured plant looks a little like my Elaeagnus multiflora. but the latter doesn't have a smell (that i can remember). awesome fruit though.... so i was too forgetful to go back and see what fruited, if anything, from the pictured flowers.

thanks you!,

We are very glad to know you appreciate our service. Thank you!

You were on the right track with Elaeagnus. This is autumn olive (Elaeagnus umbellata). https://www.marylandbiodiversity.com/view/1638

Unfortunately, it is another plant that has become invasive in natural areas of Maryland, https://extension.umd.edu/hgic/topics/autumn-olive.

This article goes into further detail about its history. http://mdinvasives.org/iotm/march-2010/
