Lawn and garden weed

I have a weed in my yard that first appeared a few years ago. It has since spread and is randomly located throughout the lawn and gardens. It is a thin stalk, grows to about 8-10" and is hard to kill. My neighbor has encountered the same weed and we have no idea what it is or how to get rid of it. Photo attached.

This weed is called Epipactis helleborine. You are correct that it is difficult to eradicate due to its fat tuberous roots. Digging it out requires getting all the root. Herbicides will probably require multiple applications: Check out the following links for details:
