Invasive Plant Growing in Yard?

Asked June 19, 2020, 11:45 AM EDT

Hello. There is a plant that is spreading throughout my yard, and one person suggested it was the invasive and problematic Japanese knotweed, but I have my doubts. Still, it's spreading extensively. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you. John M.

Definitely not Japanese Knotweed, aka Fleeceflower. It may well be a Lamium. Yellow archangel (Lamium galeobdolon) is a type of lamium with variegated foliage (silver flecks on a green background) and a yellow flower. There are a couple of variegated lamium and the flower determines which one you have. All tend to be very aggressive in the landscape.
