What type of bush or tree is this?

Asked June 18, 2020, 7:15 PM EDT

This bush is located in Rudyard Michigan in the upper peninsula. It’s on a property that had selective cutting done and it is spreading in one local area. It seems to be a soft water tree and it’s very bendy like a willow would be. As you can see the bark is yellow and I am having a difficult time identifying what it is.

Chippewa County Michigan

I think that is leatherwood (Dirca palustris): https://michiganflora.net/species.aspx?id=2727 If you have any photos of the buds or flowers that will be especially helpful in identifying it.
