Dying evergreens

Asked June 17, 2020, 6:43 PM EDT

For the last few years these 2 evergreens have gotten so covered by a white chalky substance, and now this year they look almost dead. Clumps of needles are falling off. They're about gone, help

It looks to be a heavy infestation Pine Needle Scale: http://cues.cfans.umn.edu/old/Web/181PineNeedleScale.pdf

You might consider hiring an arborist to diagnose and treat. Working from pictures is difficult. https://extension.umn.edu/planting-and-growing-guides/how-hire-tree-care-professional
