Sick dogwood bush

Asked June 16, 2020, 3:43 PM EDT

Hi, I have a dogwood bush that has similar symptoms to a previous one I lost. It has a blackish branched with no leaves on it. The branch looks brittle but its soft and green on the inside when i try to break a piece off. Im hoping I can help it so I don't loose another plant. This is unique to just one branch on the plant, but if it repeats the same pattern as the last plant it will spread even after cutting the branch out.

Unfortunately dogwoods are very susceptible to golden canker. It can be controlled by pruning it out as soon as you see it. Sterilize your pruners between cuts. Dispose of the diseased limb by bagging it up and sending it off site.
