Holly tree loosing leaves

Asked June 15, 2020, 8:17 PM EDT

My holly tree started losing its leaves on the left trunk this spring. About 6 weeks ago I tested the soil and found it neutral so I put holly tone in the ground around it according to the instructions. This was before the right trunk started being impacted. Now the right trunk is also losing its leaves. I did have a significant sewage leak 2 years ago over the winter which led to the county putting significant lime on my backyard. If there are any ideas of how to help this tree, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

Prune out the dead left side of the tree. Do not leave a stump.

Examine the leaves closely for any insect problem, including under the leaves and the twigs.

To lower the pH further, (hollies like 5-6 pH) read about how it is done for blueberry beds: https://extension.umd.edu/hgic/topics/blueberries-selection-soil-preparation-planting
