Newly planted dogwood looks dead.

Asked June 14, 2020, 2:44 PM EDT

Cornus Kousa, Sz #1, 4.5 gal container, bought Apr 29, some small leaves. Set container in hole waiting for weather to plant; then had two nights freezing temps. All Leaves curled up, turned brown, and dropped. Thought it was temporary so planted and watered it. Now June and no leafing in sight. The trunk is still green and pliable and so are a few of the larger branches but the little ones are dead. Will it survive without any leaves or should we remove it?

If there are currently no leaves after one month and you don't see any signs of new leaves developing, then your tree will not survive.
Sorry for the news.
