Book on forest preservation & health
We have a good-sized woods in our backyard. I keep the buckthorn and garlic mustard under control. The wildlife (deer, turkeys, frogs, etc) love our yard. I would like to do what I can to try to promote the overall health of the woods. We also really enjoy spotting the wild flowers. Is there a book that you could recommend on how to maximize the health of our woods? For example, I'm now wondering if the woods has become too dark due to overgrowth of box elder trees. We had some morel mushrooms a few years back but they have disappeared. Might turkey droppings have changed the soil chemistry too much? Thanks.
