Emerald Ash Borer

Asked June 11, 2020, 10:37 AM EDT

I have noticed a lot of Emerald Ash Borers around our home this summer. It concerns me that they may start attacking other trees? Is there anything I can do to help slow them down?

Bracken County Kentucky

The Emerald Ash Borer has been in Bracken County since 2012 and most of our ash trees are dead or in great decline. At his time, there has not been a report of the insect spreading to other trees so I would not be concerned . To monitor if any do move to another tree, watch for the sign of the hole the insect makes. It is a distinct shape of the letter "D" with one side of the hole flat. If you find this on a different species of tree, please let me know. This needs to be documented. If you have any other questions, I will be glad to help. David
