What type of bug is this?
This is a flying ant. This time of year, many ant colonies expand by sending out flying ants to start new colonies. Since ants are beneficial and we must have them in our environment (including lawns) for them to be healthy, you don't want or need to get rid of them all.
This is a temporary phase, and there may be more flying ants than usual this year due to the mild winter. Use ant traps in the house if you see regular ants a lot. Outside, prune plants back so they don't touch the house. Dry up soil a few inches out from the house (this discourages termites, too.)
