Grackles in the yard

Asked June 11, 2020, 8:35 AM EDT

Yesterday a large flock of grackles moved into our yard in Mac Groveland area of St. Paul. I’m concerned they will discourage other birds and eat the insects in the yard. They don’t seem too afraid of us and I’m wondering if they will move on soon or can we do something to help them move out?

After the young fledge, large flocks of grackles often visit lawns and gardens to feed on soil insects. The flocks are usually very mobile and seldom stay in one place.
