Garden stakes

Got the metal stakes for fencing that has California’s carcinogen warning label. Do these leach these chemicals into the soil?

California’s Proposition 65 states that products that contain any of about 800 different unhealthy chemicals must state that they contain “a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects and other reproductive harm.” Not all hazardous products sold elsewhere in the US will carry this label.

If you are fencing in a vegetable garden, particularly is you are maintaining an organic garden, it would be wise to avoid using tools that contain California’s warning label. For other uses, there should be no problem. Michigan does not have these same guidelines.
