Effective slug barriers?

Asked June 6, 2020, 3:37 AM EDT

What are actually effective barriers that I can use around my plants, that aren’t phytotoxic and also won’t get washed away, to keep slugs from being able to get to my plants in my (in ground) garden and also concrete porch? I don’t want to poison, just effectively repel them. We have a lot of wildlife to keep safe from poisoned slugs.

Hi,
We have some good web pages and online pubs on slugs in Maryland and how to manage them:

We don't have research-based information on specific barriers. Some gardeners have good success with
diatomaceous earth and copper strips.
