What’s eating my Mandevilla?

Asked June 1, 2020, 12:43 PM EDT

I naively thought that the few brown-spotted leaves would simply fall off and the issue would resolve once I potted this large Mandevilla, but no. Besides the leaf damage, I now see at least one little web (see image 3). Clearly this plant needs to be sprayed with something—but with what?

It's difficult to see but I would guess that it has spider mites. An insecticidal soap labeled for spider mites would work. You will have to make sure to spray the underside of the leaves and will need to repeat as directed on the label. You could also hit it with the hose sprayer to dislodge some.
