Sealing trimmed limbs

I have trimmed some small limbs from a maple tree. I have conflicting answers as to whether or not to seal the open cut. I'm sure you have the right answer! Thank you, Mary Sandstrom

We don't recommend sealing pruning cuts. An exception is when oak trees must be pruned during the dangerous months for oak wilt - for example, because of a hazard branch. If the pruning cut is made properly, no sealant is necessary. Read here:
