What is that sound?

Asked May 29, 2020, 2:11 PM EDT

Hello! I'm wondering what is the insect that makes all the racket in the trees starting at about 6pm and goes all night. I looked up katydid sound and it is not that. I thought it might be tree frogs. I live in Baltimore City. Thanks.

We would guess tree frogs as well.
Take a look at this link and listen to the recordings to see if that is what you are hearing:

That's it! It is H. chrysoscelis. I'm so glad to finally know what they are. But why don't I ever see them? And I'm surprised they are in the city. Thank you.
