Inkberry Leaves with Autumn Colors

Asked May 27, 2020, 9:47 PM EDT

Hello, My aunt sent a photo of her inkberry holly which is looking sickly. The leaves are becoming spotted, yellow and orange. is it a nutritional deficiency or fungus or something else? She lives in Frederick County. Thanks!!

Good news.
Not a nutritional deficiency or fungus, but 'something else'.
This is the normal time of year for hollies to shed older leaves, and the colors are what comes right before they do- it's actually kind of attractive.
So tell your aunt, no worries.
