High Lake Levels

Asked May 27, 2020, 2:38 PM EDT

We live on a lake in Gaylord, Michigan for 30 years. This year is our first year with ground water flooding in our basement as the lake level has risen a lot. Our insurance company says we have no flood insurance. We had a company come in to fix the problem, however it continues. We paid them $26,000 dollars. Just wondering if there is any government help or assistance? Thank-you Kathy Avenall

I am unaware of any assistance. However, someone in the Water Resources Division of the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) may have more information. Here is their website on inland lake high water levels. https://www.michigan.gov/egle/0,9429,7-135-3313_3681_28734-521579--,00.html

Here is the phone number to the EGLE regional office in Gaylord: 989-731-4920
