how to trim a sprawling German thyme plant
How do I trim a sprawling German thyme plant? I am unable to find a You Tube video that addresses my situation. The two plants are about 3 years old. One began sprawling after the first year. I trim in the spring and late summer, but it takes forever. Concerning the smaller thyme plant, can I simply grab a fistful and cut straight across, attempting to remove all the spent flowers? The flowers tend to cover a lot of the stem. How much height can I reduce from the plant? Concerning the sprawling thyme plant, how can I easily trim it back? Deborah

It is okay to shear the plans down to about half and lightly shape in the spring. Cut off all dead areas which have been winter damaged.
Thyme grows best in full sun in a well drained soil. https://web.extension.illinois.edu/herbs/thyme.cfm
