Cucumber seedlings being eaten

Asked May 24, 2020, 12:01 PM EDT

I have started to have my cucumber seedlings sprout and there is severe damage overnight to them. Not sure what pest is causing the damage so I don’t know the best way to treat. There is already chicken wire around (although not rabbit proof) and liquid fence was used. Would love your opinion on what could be causing the damage.

There is an array of critters like birds, squirrels, groundhogs etc.... that could have caused this type of damage. There is still plenty of time to plant more cucumbers. This time cover them with a protective cloth called a floating row cover or remay. Adjust it as the plants grow. It should be pulled away when the plants flower so the flowers get pollinated.
