White drain from evergreen tree

I have a white drainage from my 30 ft evergreen tree. Can you tell me what it is and how to treat it?

This appears to be sap drainage from a wound. Nothing specific to recommend in terms of treatment. Some canker diseases could be an issue, but that is not my primary concern. I can't get a good look at the needles, but this appears to be a Colorado blue spruce. The number of diseases that affect these trees does not make them good options for Illinois landscapes. Our horticulture educator, Ryan Pankau, just wrote an article on this particular tree. https://extension.illinois.edu/blogs/garden-scoop/2020-05-16-two-trees-you-should-never-plant-illinois
