Encouraging growth on lower part of tree

Asked May 19, 2020, 6:39 PM EDT

My pine trees have dried old branches on lower part...have trimmed these totally. Is there any way to start new growth in these original parts of the tree?

Thanks for your question.

It's common for the lower limbs of pines to die, typically from too much shade. Unfortunately, there isn't anything you can do to stimulate new growth in these areas. It's possible that the trees may show a little growth over time but not enough to replace the branches that die out.
