Unhappy columbine

Asked May 18, 2020, 5:19 PM EDT

Hello, I planted this Columbine 2 years ago. While it never grew very tall, it did bloom nicely. This year, the blooms were a bit.more "saggy " and the leaves have now turned this yellow/brown/whitish color. I thought it might be powdery mildew or spider mites but I'm not sure which one and how to fix it. Please help if you can.

That serpentine scribble indicates is a type of leafminer that moves within the upper and lower leaf surfaces.
It is so common for this plant it is seen regularly and is called the columbine leafminer. Just pick off and throw away the affected leaves.
The plant will produce new ones and should be fine.
